About The Founder.
My name is Dr. Tristin Engels and I am a licensed Clinical Forensic Psychologist, published author, expert presenter for true crime documentaries, and granddaughter of Louis R. Vitullo, the co-inventor of the first sexual assault evidence collection kit. My. grandfather was my inspiration to go into this field; because of him, I understood the flaws within our system that needed to be addressed. Now, I am dedicated to helping reduce recidivism, prioritize mental health care, and emphasize the importance of rehabilitation within our justice system. .

Publication
September 4, 2020. "The Power of Truth: The Life of Louis R. Vitullo and the Legacy of the Rape Kit." Genius Books Publishing.
I wrote a book about my grandfather. He was a Chicago police Sergeant turned Chief Analyst of the Chicago Crime Lab. He was in Time Magazine for his work on Richard Speck, he was called out of retirement for John Wayne Gacy, and he co-invented the rape kit. I donate a portion of sales to efforts of ending the backlog of untested rape kits.
